Williams - Issues, Yet Again! Patrick Head Saviour?

Yet again, Williams have got another issue. At the Bahrain Paddock on Thursday, Robert Kubica confirmed that the Grove based team are running their two cars with limited to no spare parts, a crucial element in running and competing in Formula 1. As such, both Williams drivers are taking the kerbs slowly or not at all, in case of any damage done, something that shouldn't be heard of when racing at such high levels.

Kubica stated,' The team is trying to get us the best car we can have to drive. But on the other hand, in a perfect world you would have fresher parts starting the weekend, plus having some spare parts, and in a good state. It is putting the driver in a difficult position... You cannot go over the kerbs, or you go over the kerbs but the risk is that the car will fall apart, and then you have no spares to fix it.'

Even at the last race in Melbourne Williams were avoiding riding kerbs in case of damaging the floor of the car or any other crucial parts. Yet, most of the other nine teams on the grid have already brought upgrades to Bahrain, will Williams be left eating dust? This sport doesn't stop for anyone, not even an iconic multi championship winning team.

Robert Kubica even stated the team are still treating the race weekends as a testing opportunity. But, the reality is we are now a race in and the team are still not actually racing. So, will Williams even catch up this season or should they fully focus on developing an actual race worthy car for 2020?

One thing Williams can look forward to is the addition of Sir Patrick Head, the co-founder and shareholder of Williams. Patrick Head has major motorsport knowledge and was even the the engineering director at Williams in 2008. Head is expected to attend the Chinese Grand Prix and initiate his role as a consultant to the British team.

Williams released a statement saying,' We can confirm that Sir Patrick Head is currently offering some support to our engineering team on a short term consultancy basis.'

Will Patrick Head finally be the missing piece in the Williams puzzle? Or will he be a scapegoat and turned away just like Paddy Lowe was?

Only time will tell...

But the general consensus is that Patrick Head is the right man for the job, if anyone can fix it, it would be him. Let's hope this is true.
