Toro Rosso have launched their new 2019 car, the STR14, which looks remarkably similar to last years Toro Rosso. Although very similar in livery, will the STR14 be faster on track than the STR13?
Formula One have instated a rule in which teams are now able to buy components and parts of the cars from rival teams, which has allowed for more time to be spent on the details of the cars. This rule has been relied upon by Toro Rosso and is seen by many teams as a great way to reuse and recycle materials more efficiently. Especially with lower budget teams such as Toro Rosso, Williams and Haas. Will this new regulation allow for more front running teams?
Red Bull's sister team, Toro Rosso, are starting with a whole new driver line up. Starting with the rookie Alex Albon, who finished runner up to Charles Leclerc in the 2016 GP3 Series. However, they have also acquired the ever-returning Daniil Kvyat, who raced with Toro Rosso and Red Bull for four years before being dropped mid way through the 2017 season.
The Toro Rosso team principle, Franz Tost has stated that he didn't want to set any targets for the 2019 season. However, Honda's F1 technical director, Toyoharu Tanabe has said both Toro Rosso and Red Bull's engine partner of Honda are aiming to "achieve better results than in 2018 for both teams".
Toro Rosso finished ninth overall last season, with a best place finish of fourth by Pierre Gasly in Bahrain. Can Toro Rosso step up their game and become a proper mid-fielding team and not just a back-marker picking up the pieces?
