Sauber, an iconic name on the Formula 1 grid, has now officially changed their name to Alfa Romeo Racing.

Sauber have been on the F1 Grid since 1993 and has changed its name multiple times throughout its racing years. However, now entering the 2019 season, Sauber will no longer be one of the names on the grid. But with a whole new driver line up, with Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi, what is a new name?

However, this doesn't come as a huge surprise after Alfa Romeo was announced as Sauber's title sponsor last year. This partnership was always intended to expand into the technical side of the sport, not just the monetary side.

Fred Vasseur, Sauber's Team Principle, released a statement this morning saying, "“It is a pleasure to announce that we will enter the 2019 Formula One World Championship with the Team name Alfa Romeo Racing. After initiating the collaboration with our Title Sponsor Alfa Romeo in 2018, our team made fantastic progress on the technical, commercial and sporting side." He continued with, "This has given a boost of motivation to each team member, be that track-side or at the headquarter in Switzerland, as the hard work invested has become reflected in our results." Vasseur has proved his worth in his position, he has clearly brought Sauber up to be at the top of the mid-fielding team at most races.

Alfa Romeo was once a top team in Formula 1 and a genuine title contender. They even managed to secure two World Championships with Nino Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio. Can they do it again?

Alfa Romeo Racing have confirmed they will be unveiling the new 2019 car on the first day of Barcelona testing, 18th February. So what will the new livery be?
