2021, the year of change for Formula 1 with new regulations to be enforced. But, what is to be written on them is still concealed from the public, that is until this month. However, whispers of what is to come are already seeping through...
Synergetic fuel is one of the bigger whispers, a fuel which is virtually carbon free! Some teams are already using synthetic fuel, however, this is in very small amounts. Therefore, with regulation changes imminent and teams that are able to analyse oil and fuels trackside, why shouldn't the ten teams take a greener approach?
Although, these changes would be made gradually, year by year, slowly integrating synthetic fuels into Formula 1. This is all due to the lack of sufficient quantities of E-Fuels available yet, as such, a Formula 1 car would not be able to run solely on such green fuels.
Therefore, only 20 percent of this fuel will be integrated into Formula 1 for the 2021 season. The production of these E-Fuels is intended to increase continuously until 2025, along with the percentage of synthetic fuels in the general runnings of these Formula 1 cars.
A step closer to a greener future.
