Esteban Ocon and Kevin Magnussen have officially been disqualified from the US Grand Prix which took place yesterday in Austin, Texas. Both drivers were summoned to the stewards after the race finished after Kimi Raikkonen took the victory.
Ocon finished in 8th place whilst Magnussen finished just behind in 9th. The stewards concluded that both drivers had irregularities in their fuel usages, Ocon's car is said to have exceeded the maximum fuel mass flow limit on the opening lap of the race. Whilst Magnussen used more fuel than the maximum amount allowed for the whole race, 105kg. Therefore the stewards hit the French and Danish drivers with the biggest penalties available, disqualification.
Haas F1 Team have now received two disqualifications of their cars in the last 5 races. The first being in Monza where Romain Grosjean's car was disqualified from 6th place due to technical issues and now Kevin Magnussen's car has also been disqualified losing valuable championship points as the battle for 4th continues.
Although Haas and Force India have suffered from the stewards decision, a few drivers have managed to benefit from their hardship such as Ocon's teammate, Sergio Perez who was promoted from 10th to 8th receiving an extra 3 points. Toro Rosso's Brendon Hartley also received a promotion to 9th from 11th, which means that the New Zealander scored 2 points. Additionally, Marcus Ericsson was also promoted to 10th leading him to score points for the fifth time this season.
With this as the final outcome, Haas are now 5th in the Constructors Championship, 22 points behind Renault, whilst Force India are 7th, 11 points behind McLaren.
