Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen have been retained for the 2020 season at Haas F1 Team.
Kevin Magnussen's contract meant he was already signed for the following season and there was no doubt over his race seat for 2020. However, Romain Grosjean's contract ran out at the end of this season and after many crashes and clashes, most notably with his teammate, many doubted his return.
Therefore, contrary to popular opinion, the Franco-Swiss will remain at Haas for the following season. As such, any chance for a race seat at Haas for Nico Hulkenberg, who is being replaced by Esteban Ocon for 2020, is gone. But many still believe the German could replace Antonio Giovinazzi at Alfa Romeo...

After a troubled 2019 season, the pair will enter their fifth season together after beginning their journey in 2016, along with the start of Haas F1 Team. The precedent for the next Haas driver was set as early as Belgium, Gunther Steiner, Haas team principle, clearly stated the team's need for "experience" and "continuity" a mould both Nico Hulkenberg and Romain Grosjean fit. Yet, the re-signing of Grosjean allows full focus on the development of the 2020 car, instead of settling in a new driver.
Haas F1 team principle, Gunther Steiner, stated, "Experience, and the need for it, has been one of the cornerstones of Haas F1 Team, and with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen racing for the team in 2020, we continue to have a driver line up that offers us a solid platform to continue our growth. Their understanding of how we work as a team, and our knowledge of what they can deliver behind the wheel, gives us a valued continuity and a strong foundation to keep building around."
